SUMMARY:Essential Techniques and Calculations for Energy Managers & Commissioning Authorities
DESCRIPTION:RegisterCost:\nEMA Member: $19\nAABC/ACG/AESP/APPA/ASHRAE/NAESCO/SAME Members: $39\nNon Member: $49\nUpdated for 2025!\nWhile buildings are responsible for approximately 40% of the energy consumed in the U.S. the EPA estimates an average of 30% of the energy used in commercial facilities is wasted. Reducing this waste requires a comprehensive energy management program to meet the latest energy efficiency standards and established greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction goals.\nThe process of managing a facility’s energy demand and consumption requires a methodical approach involving data gathering, assessment of existing systems, identification of savings’ opportunities, and thorough analysis of these opportunities with respect to both energy and cost savings.\nThis 2-hour virtual training session offers a deep dive into this process along with sample scenarios and calculations including developing a facility’s energy baseline, benchmarking against comparable facilities, and evaluating sample energy saving opportunities associated with lighting, variable frequency drives (VFDs), and the addition of insulation to a building’s envelope. Calculations will show both energy and dollar savings.\nLearning Objectives:\n\nUnderstanding the importance of energy management\nCodes, standards, guidelines and ordinances governing facilities’ energy use\nEstablishing energy baselines and benchmarks\nASHRAE standards for energy auditing – levels and process\nSample calculations and available tools for evaluation of energy saving opportunities\n\nWho Should Attend:\n\nEnergy Managers\n\nCommissioning Providers\nMEP Engineers\nFacility / Property Managers\nO&M Staff\nBuilding Owners\nArchitects\nOther Building Professionals\n\nPlease download our Candidate Handbook for more comprehensive information about our Energy Management Professional (EMP) Certification and requirements to take the EMP Exam.\nApproved for 2 AIA LUs\n\n
