EMA’s Energy Management Professionals Approved as “Qualified Benchmarkers” in Orlando Building and Water Efficiency Policy

(Washington, DC October 9, 2019)— The Energy Management Association announced that the Orlando Mayor’s Office of Sustainability & Resiliency has notified the association that those carrying its Energy Management Professional (EMP) Certification have been named as “Qualified Benchmarkers” in relation to their Building Energy and Water Efficiency Strategy policy.
Office Director Chris Castro said: “We believe that individuals who hold the EMP certification will be skilled and capable of performing the annual benchmarking requirement via the ENERGY STAR Portfolio Manager tool, as well as carrying out energy audits for building owners in the City of Orlando.” In August, EMA made a formal request and provided justification to have the EMP added to the list.
The timing of the announcement sets up well for EMA as its next certification opportunity is the EMP Seminar & Exam at NFMT Orlando Nov. 12-13. Registration for the full conference and expo is free at NFMT Orlando.
