CxEnergy 2026 Technical Program & Keynote Announced
Pre-Conference CxA Workshop, EMP Seminar, & Post-Conference Architectural Boat Tour

The premier event in commissioning, energy management, and building analytics and diagnostics, CxEnergy 2026, announced its technical program & keynote today. The event takes place April 21-24, 2026, in Chicago, IL at the Sheraton Grand.

Ian Beacraft will deliver a high-energy keynote presentation titled “From Checklists to Co-Pilots: Practical AI for Commissioning and Energy Professionals”. Attendees will learn how small firms and large teams alike are using AI to increase revenue per engineer (not just cut costs), translate complex data into client-ready narratives, and free technical staff from low-value documentation so they can focus on the work that actually requires decades of field experience. Attendees will walk away with a clear-eyed view of where AI is genuinely useful today, where it still fails, and how to experiment safely without betting your reputation on a hallucination.

CxEnergy draws hundreds of the nation’s leading commissioning experts, energy management professionals, MEP engineers, HVAC testing professionals, facility managers and building owners. Technical program presentation topics include:

  • Case studies in commissioning and energy management for buildings and facilities (particularly featuring the owner perspective)
  • Market sector case studies (e.g. aviation, national convenience store chain, data centers, healthcare, higher education, indoor cannabis grow facilities)
  • Smoke Control Systems Review and Testing Execution for Code Compliance
  • Achieving Energy Savings Through Performance-Based Ventilation
  • MEP and BECx Partnerships
  • LEED v5 Commissioning: Decarbonization, Data, and New Emphasis on Building Performance
  • Deciphering Decibels: Acoustic Commissioning Processes for Aural Success
  • Better Buildings through Building Performance Standard
  • What the One Big Beautiful Bill Act Means for HVAC&R Professionals

These speakers represent companies and organizations including the Institute for Market Transformation, McCarthy Construction, the University of Georgia, IEEE Standards Committee 21, the Illinois Green Alliance, USGBC, Massachusetts Institute of Technology, EXP, The University of Arizona, TLC Engineering Solutions, and more.
